Ahobhilam which is known as “singavelkundram” is dedicated to lord Narasimha the lion form of lord Vishnu. Which he took to kill the demon Hiranyakasyapa. of the many places of Narasimha worship, this place is unique, being the only place where all the nine forms of lord Narasimha are worshipped. Hence it is also called Navanarasimha Kshethram. The Temple is divided in to two parts, which is the lower Ahobhilam and upper Ahobhilam is the abode of the Prahalladavara Narasimha. This temple lies in the centre of three Prakaras built in vijaya nagara style. It is believed that Lord Narasimha manifested himself on the natural rock cave. This place is considered as one of the 10 divya kshethram of the country.

The massive composite pillar in the Rangamantapam are profusely carved with figures Yakshas riding on yalis and horses with their rear legs on the makaras. The exterior of upper Ahobhilam is also decorated with excellent sculptures.
